What you're describing fits all the classic 'symptoms' of an out of body experience, your body was VERY asleep (but your mind was still awake), then you felt a slight vibration/tingling, the paralysis (because your body was asleep it could not so easily 'act' on any command given to it anymore), and of course the floating sensation.

First of all, let's deal with the control. Now, you're obviously scared by this (and those vibrations can certainly be scary), but you can't control it. You can control the body by making it fall asleep, you can control what you do after you've left your body, but you cannot control the vibrations itself. Any attempt to do so will result in the vibrations stopping (and you being stuck in your body again). So don't be scared when it starts, because the sooner you let it be, the sooner you will be out of your body, and back in control of what you want to do.

Now, the paralysis. This of course happens because your body is asleep, fast asleep, and any command given to it by your mind is just disregarded, until you put a lot of willpower behind it! This in fact, happens to me a lot, just while sleeping and waking up. I've found that if I concentrate and really put a lot of willpower behind the thought, I can move something, even if it is just my finger. And the moment I've managed to move one finger, the rest of my body starts waking up, which means the end of the paralysis.

But always remember, if you want the vibrations to stop, just move a finger, then move your hand, then move you leg, etc., this will wake up your body, stop the vibrations, and prevent you from leaving your body.

If you are having an out of body experience, but wants to return to your body, just concentrate all your willpower to move a finger, a hand, anything, this will pull you back to your body as fast as you can say 'snap', and you will be safe back in your bed (or wherever).

Just one more thing.

It is a well-known fact that you have what everyone likes to call a 'silver cord', which kind of runs between you're astral body and your physical body, linking the 2 no matter what. Some people are also afraid this can snap/break.

Now, with the full authority of someone who has done absolutely NO research whatsoever, someone who has never seen her own silver cord, I tell you this cord CANNOT snap. It's not a physical thing, it cannot break, you cannot die while astral projecting, and (unless you spesifically give something permission) you cannot be possessed while out of your body. The silver cord gives you first right to your physical body from the day of conception till the day you die. Only when your physical body dies does the silver cord 'break' and then it's a natural process.

So this is what I believe, but as you can see from the quote on my home page, "Everyone has an opinion based on what they believe to be the truth". But I also believe that the fact that I believe is is not possible creates that reality for me, because I believe it, it can never happen to me.

But I must say that I've read a lot about the subject, visited every astral projection website on the internet, and everyone agrees that they have never heard of a possession because someone was projecting (though possession certainly is possible for other reasons), they have never come across an incident where someone's silver cord has broken in an unnatural manner.
